Sunflower symbolising growth and healing in therapy with an independent counsellor in Cheshire, UK

Reflect and Rise is the counselling practice of qualified psychotherapist Sasha Jane Spicer (MBacp, MSc).

I specialise in Integrative Therapy.

This approach blends different counselling methods - such as Person-Centred Therapy, CBT, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Therapy - rather than relying on a single technique.

Every person is unique, and therefore Integrative therapy draws on knowledge and experience from a range of approaches to find what works best for you.

We’ll explore your current challenges in a way that suits your individual needs. I aim to get to know you as a whole person so I can support you in the ways that matter most to you.

At the heart of Integrative counselling is a safe, supportive relationship where you feel heard, understood, and accepted.

“Sasha's approach to therapy made me see things with a completely different perspective. It has changed my whole outlook on life, and for that I am forever grateful.”

With over 10 years of experience as a therapist, I have supported adults in a variety of settings such as the NHS, police services, GP practices, EAP providers and MIND mental health charities. I have also worked with young adults as a College Counsellor.

I can offer help in a variety of issues, including yet not limited to: anxiety, stress, depression, life transitions, relationship difficulties, trauma, grief... I tailor sessions to each person’s individual needs to ensure they receive the most appropriate form of therapy.

I offer a confidential, compassionate space where individuals can feel comfortable to explore their thoughts and experiences. When counselling feels safe and secure, it gently creates space for exploration and new insights.

Through therapy, my hope is to help people unburden: to release what may hold them back, to overcome challenges, and to move toward a greater sense of peace and wellbeing.

I currently offer sessions online or over the phone, which provides individuals with an accessible and flexible way to approach therapy.

How I work

I’m empathetic

I have a genuine concern for others. My approach is grounded in empathy, cultural awareness, and respect for each person’s unique experiences and identity. Having my own lived experience of mental health challenges allows me to connect with clients in an authentic and human way, bringing genuine understanding and compassion to our work together.

I’m understanding

I believe in listening with compassion. I offer a safe, supportive space where every individual is valued for who they are.

I celebrate diversity and recognise that our differences are an important part of our stories. Life can bring many challenges, and I understand the real struggles people face. At times, we all need a place to pause, reflect, and heal. My role is to walk alongside you with understanding and respect as you navigate your journey.

I’m trustworthy

A strong therapeutic relationship is fundamental to effective therapy. Feeling able to trust that your counsellor will offer a confidential, consistent and non-judgemental space allows you to explore your thoughts and feelings openly. My aim is to provide an open and supportive space where you feel comfortable sharing whatever is on your mind.

Talking Therapy

£60 per session

Talking Therapy may be particularly helpful if you’re looking for a space to reflect more openly on your thoughts, feelings and experiences. Rather than focusing on specific techniques, this approach offers the time and freedom to explore what’s going on for you at your own pace.

For many people, having a supportive space to talk and be truly heard can be more beneficial than focusing on practical tools. It can be especially helpful when you are trying to understand your emotions more deeply, process life experiences, or make sense of complex or overwhelming feelings.

Through this reflective process, greater self-awareness and personal insight can develop, which can support meaningful change and personal growth.

02.

Pure CBT

£70 per session

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a structured and practical form of therapy that focuses on the connection between our thoughts, feelings and behaviours. The way we think about situations can influence how we feel and how we respond.

In therapy, we work together to identify unhelpful patterns of thinking or behaviour. We explore how these patterns may be contributing to difficulties in your life. From there, we can begin developing more balanced ways of thinking and practical strategies to help you manage challenges more effectively.

This approach can be especially useful when you want to develop practical coping strategies for challenges such as anxiety, low mood, stress, or unhelpful thinking habits.

Your Questions, Answered

How do I schedule my first session?

Before beginning therapy, I offer a free introductory session of up to 15 minutes. This gives us a chance to introduce ourselves and discuss any questions you might have.

Do you offer face- to -face therapy?

I currently offer virtual or telephone counselling sessions, rather than face-to-face. Over recent years my clients have found that remote sessions better suit their needs, offering greater convenience and flexibility around busy schedules.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, virtual and telephone counselling became extremely popular, allowing clients to attend sessions from a comfortable space and without the need to travel.

What technology do I need for virtual therapy?

Any computer, tablet, or smartphone with a stable internet connection will work.

How many sessions will I need?

The amount of sessions varies greatly upon your individual needs. I offer sessions on a pay-as-you-go basis to provide you with full control and autonomy in your counselling journey.

It’s typically recommended to have a minimum of 4-6 sessions of CBT, yet I also offer CBT on a pay-as-you-go basis if preferred.
